On 6 June 1944 (D-Day), the U.S. Army’s 116th Infantry Regiment of the 29th Infantry Division, along with the 5th Ranger Battalion, and A, B, and C Companies of the 2nd Ranger Battalion landed on Omaha Beach.
An artificial harbor like the one in Arromanches was built but was quickly destroy because of the violent storm on June 19th, 1944. There is only one remain of this harbor that you can see on the beach.
